We have not given the Daily Mail Trophy table too much attention through the first half of the season as with so few games played it is a bit like the Premiership table after one or two rounds.

However as we moved into the second half of the season the trends start to emerge and the contenders for those top ten positions start to be identifiable.

As the season moves on then, we will start looking to the table more often to take in a snapshot of who the challengers are.

At this stage it is looking like a shootout between Wellington College and Sedbergh, and their game on Wednesday 29th November could well prove to be decisive. Last year it certainly was, it unfortunately had to be cancelled and that cancellation denied Sedbergh the chance to claim the points they need to catch Wellington, who went on to claim their third title in as many years.

They sit in the top two positions, with Wellington on top on 6.56 and Sedbergh just behind on 6.13.

Cranleigh are in third, unbeaten like the rest of the Top 10 currently are. They are on 5.70 points, overhauling the top two is going to be possible but it will be harder than it might have been in previous years as they do not have their traditional midweek fixture against Wellington College this year.

Back in fourth Kingswood are sitting pretty on 5.50 points, although from only two specified Daily Mail Trophy games. Their game against Dean Close right at the end of the season could be key to their final position, the Gloucestershire outfit are just a couple of places behind in sixth, level on points with Haileybury in 5th.

Haileybury, like Dean Close, are in flying form this year and if their second half of the season is anything life the first half then they really could be challenging for a high finish this year.

Behind those two sits another side in superb form this season, Cheltenham College. They have six wins from six for a total of 5.30 points, level with eighth placed Northampton School for Boys, and Canford in 9th. Reed’s are currently in tenth, just 0.1 points behind on 5.20.
