A fairly quiet midweek of school rugby saw some excellent fixtures take place on Wednesday afternoon.

Despite the weather closing in, most fixtures were able to go ahead, including a brilliant game Kingston Park, where Newcastle School for Boys won a thriller against Austin Friars, 43-24.

Hayes’ remarkable 2017/18 season continued with an exciting victory away at Maidstone Grammar, a 36-20 final score. Henley College Coventry were in flying form away at Queen Ethelburga’s as they secured a fantastic 31-0 victory.

Ratcliffe College were another side in flying form on Wednesday afternoon as they soared to a 50-0 win over the Welbeck 2nd XV. Just because a side is a second team though does not automatically mean that any first fifteen will beat them though, as KES Stratford’s 2nd XV showed in a thriller at Twekesbury, where they just edged the win in an unbelievably tight encounter, 26-24.

That was not the closest game of the day though, that came in Wales, where Shrewsbury travelled to Christ College Brecon. A tense game unfolded, finishing up in a 12-12 draw.

There was plenty of U15 Cup, Plate, Vase, and Bowl action through the week too, which we will round up elsewhere once all of the remaining fixtures have been completed.
