Bournville RFC played host to what has become a fixture in the representative calendar on Sunday as the Irish Exiles and ISRFC Lambs met for their annual fixture.
The two have played some great games down the years and Sunday was to prove another as the Exiles took a 46-24 victory. Both played some wonderful attacking rugby, the Lambs’ ‘Fast And Free’ ethos proving, as ever, to inspire an attacking and high scoring approach from both sides.
Even watching the short highlight clip below a sense of the spirit of the game can be seen.
For the Lambs of course these games are in a way the end product, they have four fixtures and then a tour of South Africa on the card this season (you can see their team for Sunday’s game against London Scottish here: Lambs XV v London Scottish), for the Irish Exiles though this game represents another step along the pathway to potential Irish representation.
Already this month there have been two Irish Qualified Rugby (IQ Rugby) Development Days and there is another chance for Irish qualified players to enter the system next month at the IRFU Exiles Festival at Trent College on the 18th February.
The Festival is for any Irish qualified player, through birth or the birth of a parent or grandparent in Ireland, born in 2003 or 2004 and you can register to attend here: Irish Exiles National Festival Registration.
Should you be unavailable on that date though or born in a different year, you can still sign up to IQ Rugby at www.IQRugby.ie and click register and staff will be in touch to discuss the IRFU player pathway and potential opportunities.
