Round 2 of the second phase of the AASE League takes place on Wednesday, and in the two top conferences the teams are really jostling for those appearances in the final.

With one round down, there are just two to go before the second phase is done and dusted and those finalists are known.

North 1

Oaklands College v Gosforth Academy looks like the one to keep a real eye on here, particularly after Oaklands ended Worcester 6th form College’s unbeaten AASE season last week. With Gosforth comfortably beating Brooksby Melton College, the winner in this one is going to be in pole position for that place in the AASE final against the South winners, it should be close too, Oaklands won the previous fixture by a single point.

Worcester, meanwhile will look to get back on track as they host Brooksby Melton College. A defeat for either would almost certainly put them out of the hunt for a place in the final making this absolutely crucial.

South 1

A different dynamic in the South as both of last week’s winners, Hartpury College and Exeter College, do not meet until next round. Should they both win this week then that game next week will be a direct shootout for a place in the final.

In the meantime Hartpury College host a St Paul’s Catholic College side that caused Exeter College real trouble last week, while Exeter are away at Henley College, the only side across the whole AASE season to really have troubled Hartpury. The last time these two met it ended in a 17-17 draw, so expect a close one.

North 2

Moulton College have the bye this week after defeat to Myerscough College last week. Myerscough now travel to Bishop Burton College, who beat them 22-12 earlier in the year.

South 2

SGS Filton College are resting this week following their win over Truro College last week. Truro are at home this time around, hosting a Beechen Cliff side that beat them in a close 24-19 game just before half term.
