The AASE play offs take this place this week, culminating with the AASE Final at Allianz Park on Wednesday.

That game sees last year’s finalists Beechen Cliff take on St Paul’s Catholic College, after St Paul’s beat reigning champions Hartpury College to the top of Division 1 Pool B. The game will be streamed live and you can watch it below or on Freesports, which is channel 442 on Sky, 64 on Freeview, or 553 on Virgin.

Prior to Wednesday’s final, the other six play off games all take place on Tuesday, with three games held at Leicester Forest RFC and three at Shaftesbury Park.

AASE Final

Beechen Cliff return to the final after a narrow defeat to Hartpury College last year and they will be desperate to turn that result around and claim a maiden AASE title just a few short years after they joined the league.

St Paul’s will arrive looking to achieve that same goal though and they will be bursting with confidence having beaten Hartpury last time out in order to reach this final. Giving them further confidence will be the fact that they actually beat Beechen Cliff 19-13 when the two sides met earlier this season.

That game was at home for St Paul’s, though, and Beechen Cliff will have the advantage of a number of players in their side with AASE Final and Allianz Park experience, all of which sets up for a really exciting game of rugby.

For both it would be a first title, indeed for nine of the ten years of the AASE League to date, Hartpury have won the league, only Exeter College in 2016 have broken that streak.

In recent times though, Beechen Cliff, the Bath AASE side, have been their nearest consistent challengers, they will surely believe that this is their time to convert on that. For the London Irish AASE side this game offers that exact same opportunity though, making for an exciting match up for this grand finale.

Rankings Play-Offs

The remaining AASE side will all play in rankings finals on Tuesday. The each side will face their counterpart from the opposite division for their respective places. For instance Brooksby Melton College, second in Division 1 Pool A, will play Hartpury College, second in Division 1 Pool B, for third place.

Leicester Forest RFC will host that 3rd place play off at 11am, followed by the 9th place play off between Bishop Burton College and SGS Filton College at 1pm. Then at 3pm will be the 7th place play off between Gosforth Academy and Oaklands College.

The other three games will take place at Shaftesbury Park in Bristol. The day there will start at 12pm with Stourport High School and City of Oxford College meeting in the 13th place play off. At 2pm play continues with the 11th place play off between Moulton College and Truro College before the day rounds off at 4pm with the 5th place play off between Myerscough College and former champions Exeter College.
